Holiday parks in Hoenderloo
Hoenderloo sits in the middle of the Veluwe, at the eastern entrance to De Hoge Veluwe National Park. The village is small, but what surrounds it is not: heath, drift sand and woodland, with game roaming free.

The choice ranges from bungalows and detached holiday homes to luxury cabins and villas aimed at couples. The larger parks sit at the edge of the village, a short cycle from the park entrance. For groups there are houses sleeping up to eighteen.
The entrance on the Houtkampweg is right by the village. With an admission ticket you can take one of the eighteen hundred white bicycles standing ready throughout the park; you leave it wherever you like and the next visitor takes it on. There are more than forty kilometres of cycle paths. Red deer, wild boar and mouflon roam freely, and three observation points let you wait for them to show themselves. Early morning and around sunset give the best chance.
The Kröller-Müller Museum stands at the heart of the park and holds one of the largest Van Gogh collections in the world, with a sculpture garden around it. Sint Hubertus hunting lodge, designed by Berlage, can only be seen on a guided tour. Beneath the visitor centre lies Museonder, a museum about what goes on below ground.
September is the rutting season, when red deer are easiest to hear and see. August brings the heather into purple flower. Winter is quiet and the woods are bare, which makes spotting game easier. The park is open all year.
