fig. 119Parc de IJsselhoeve is a holiday park in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, set along the banks of the river IJssel and bordering Park Hitland, a natural area with an open, rural landscape. The park sits among scenic waterways, and when you arrive you will notice the remains of old brick kilns at the entrance, which give the site a distinctive character rooted in local history.
The park has a brasserie with a snack bar, an outdoor swimming pool, and facilities for washing laundry. Free WiFi is available throughout. For those travelling with pets, there is a dedicated dog run. If you arrive by electric car, you will find a charging point on site. Bicycles are available to rent, and from the park you can follow cycling, walking, and horse riding routes through the surrounding countryside.
Rotterdam and other cities in the Randstad are within easy reach, making this a workable base if you want to mix time outdoors with day trips into the city. That said, the park itself is well set up for a quieter stay: the river, the nature reserve next door, and the network of waterways nearby give you plenty to do without going far.
The lodge sleeps six, which makes it a practical choice for families or groups of friends looking for a base with good facilities and easy access to both nature and urban destinations in the western Netherlands.
