Veluwe holiday parks for large groups

How many large houses a park actually has decides whether your group trip happens. 22 parks on the Veluwe from eight people compared.

A group holiday rarely fails on the destination and almost always on the occupancy. There are twelve of you, the park looks right, and then it turns out there is exactly one house that size and it has been booked since February. The Veluwe has 37 holiday parks. The question is not which one is the prettiest. The question is which one has enough large houses at all.

Groepsaccommodatie 32 at EuroParcs Beekbergen: at 32 people the largest holiday home on the Veluwe.

How large can a group on the Veluwe be?

The ceiling is 32 people, in a single house at EuroParcs Beekbergen. Next comes Recreatiepark De Boshoek in Voorthuizen with 28, then EuroParcs De Zanding and Park Berkenrhode with 20 each. Anything above that means two houses side by side, which is a different kind of planning.

Of the 37 parks on the Veluwe, 22 offer something aimed at larger parties. The table below shows every park with at least one house from eight people, sorted by its largest unit.

The number nobody searches for, but everybody needs

Every park states its maximum occupancy. Almost none say how many different large houses they have. That is exactly where group bookings come apart.

Take one example from the table. RCN de Jagerstee in Epe takes up to twelve people. For that it has exactly one house type. If it is taken, the park is out for your group, however many other houses are free. Recreatiepark De Boshoek takes up to 28 people and has eighteen different house types from eight people upwards. There you will still find something three weeks before you leave.

One house type means one chance. Eighteen house types mean a choice and a plan B.

That is why the table carries a second column next to maximum occupancy: the number of different house types from eight people. What is counted is types, not listings. The same house appears several times in the booking feeds, once per period, and counting listings instead of houses gives you nicer but wrong numbers.

Types are distinct houses, not individual listings. A dash means unknown, not no.

Which park suits which group?

From sixteen people

Here the list gets short. EuroParcs Beekbergen (32), De Boshoek (28), De Zanding and Berkenrhode (20 each), then Bad Hulckesteijn, Heideheuvel and Miggelenberg at 18, and Bad Hoophuizen, De Hooge Veluwe and De Vlindervallei at 16. That is ten parks for an entire region, so book early.

If there are twenty of you, look at De Boshoek and De Zanding: both have large houses and plenty of them. Berkenrhode reaches the same maximum occupancy as De Zanding but has no indoor pool, which matters in wet weather with children.

Ten to twelve people

This is the most common group size and the choice is correspondingly wider. The differences within the same maximum occupancy stand out: at twelve people, EuroParcs Veluwemeer and Coldenhove offer four to five house types, Ackersate and Landgoed 't Loo two, RCN de Jagerstee one. Same number in the brochure, very different odds in July.

Two families, eight to ten people

From here almost every park in the table is an option and you can choose on other grounds. Landgoed de Scheleberg in Lunteren has four house types this size, Recreatiepark Beekbergen two. Consider the alternative as well: two houses for four to six people next to each other. That is often easier to get and gives both families their own kitchen in the evening.

Dogs, indoor pools and what else counts

Two columns in the table often decide more for large groups than the floor area does. An indoor pool is not a given on the Veluwe, and for a group with children in October it is the difference between a good weekend and a long one. And if one of you brings a dog, part of the list drops away before you even think about occupancy.

Where the table shows a dash, that does not always mean no. It means we cannot substantiate it. For dogs that applies to a considerable share of the parks: the rule is not in the provider's data but somewhere in the small print of the booking page. Ask when in doubt rather than trusting a dash.

Why there are no prices here

That is a deliberate choice. The providers calculate differently: one quotes a total for two nights, the next for a week, the third the lowest price within sixty days from three nights. Putting those figures in one column and sorting on it would suggest a comparability that does not exist. With group houses the spread is widest anyway, because low and high season are furthest apart here.

Prices and availability are on each park's page, with the provider directly and updated daily. Parkzie charges no booking fees and sells nothing itself.

Where do you book now?

Click the park in the table that fits your group size. On the park page you will see every unit sorted by number of people and which providers that park is bookable with. An overview of all holiday parks on the Veluwe is here, and if you are still weighing up regions, the comparison of which region suits you will help.
