Lodge Royal (4 persons)

Lodge Royal is a four-person holiday lodge set on Landgoed de Scheleberg, a country estate in Lunteren on the Veluwe. The estate sits in the middle of forested surroundings, with cycling routes and walking paths running through the nearby woodland. A long driveway leads into the grounds, giving the arrival a calm, unhurried feel.

On the estate you find a heated outdoor swimming pool and a children's pool, both open seasonally. For sport there is a tennis court, football pitch, volleyball court, petanque lane and table tennis. A restaurant and bar operate on site, along with a sun lawn and parasols for quieter afternoons. Families will find a large playground and organised entertainment activities to keep children busy. Practical facilities include free Wi-fi, a laundry room, parking with electric car charging points, a reception desk, and a dedicated wash area for dogs and bicycles.

Lunteren sits in the centre of the Netherlands, which means the Veluwe's forests and heathlands are close at hand, and day trips to other parts of the country are straightforward from here. The lodge sleeps four people, making it a reasonable fit for a couple travelling with two children or two adults who want a bit of extra room. The mix of outdoor sport, woodland walking, and on-site dining means you can fill a week without needing to venture far - though the location makes it easy to do so if you want to.
